The Promponas distillery started in 1915 by Dimitrios Promponas, focusing on the production and bottling of the local drink “Citron Naxou”. One of the collectible bottles of Promponas distillates reads “Citron Promponas: Pure Distillate of Citron Leaves.” In the late ’70s, the business flourished and expanded into winemaking and the production of local spoon sweets. Today, the tradition is carried on by Katerina and Lina Promponas, who continue to develop and create new flavors and experiences. You can discover their products at their shop in Naxos Town. Additionally, it is worth visiting the distillery in Aggidia, Naxos, where tastings and tours are organized, and even citron cocktail masterclasses are offered.
